A little backstory

I’m told that in elementary school, I bought candy bars from my parents’ pharmacy at cost and re-sold them to classmates at a 100% markup. In middle school, I was the national champion in a basketball skills challenge. In high school, I created our best-selling spirit shirt of all time.
I’ve grown into a creative director, writer, and filmmaker with global experience and a commitment to re-inventing the way media channels can be used, but I’m still just a kid from Michigan looking to meld creativity, competition, and commerce.

My professional career rose from the ashes of Detroit before migrating westward to the mountains of Boulder, streets of San Francisco, and beaches of Sydney – ultimately boomeranging back to the Bay.

What began as a fascination with ideas has become an obsession with execution as I’ve added photography, film editing, and directing to my repertoire. That said, there’s no substitute for great strategy to give a brand and its creative teams some elbow room.

I revel in uncovering human insights and playing them back to people in unexpected ways. I take pride in leading cross-functional teams to overcome problems in ways they hadn’t imagined. And I adore learning, which has made growing up equal parts exciting and daunting as I’m constantly confronted with more that I don’t know.

My experience spans virtually every category and medium, with award-winning work for brands like Intel, Ford Motor Company, Old Navy, YouTube, Paddy Power and Google, and award-losing work for Jose Cuervo, vitaminwater, Telstra, and Windows Phone. I've also helped other creatives win and lose trophies, serving on the jury for the YoungGun and ADDY Awards, as well as tutoring Australia’s next generation of creatives at AWARD School.

My non-work focus is much simpler: my wife, daughter, The 1UP Club, and getting two more hole-in-ones to complete the 5i-6i-7i-8i-9i straight.

This methodology has launched VR into the mainstream, helped Olympic Drone Light Shows take flight, made commercials Shazamable, created branded music videos for pop stars and unsung artists, decorated the first IOC-sanctioned eSports Tournament, revealed love stories through technology, brought NBA fans courtside from anywhere, and transformed a historic theatre into the world’s largest VR headset. I have consistently proven in agencies and in-house to find fertile creative ground – never derivative, never fluffy – with the support of smart, passionate, ambitious people like you.
