When Splendour in the Grass banned selfie sticks in 2015, we saw an opportunity to bring Telstra’s positioning, “It’s How We Connect”, to life, by creating the only official selfie stick at the festival. The Big Selfie Stick towered above the festival, giving fans a choice of Telstra branded pics sent straight to their phone. The activation so dominated the event that one selfie was taken every 30 seconds for 3 straight days. With headline acts getting involved, 5,230 visitors took 3,392 selfies – leading to a massive 1.3 million impressions. This was the brainchild of Dane Van Veen and Peter Mountford.
